My name is Caity Church. I have been teaching in the Rogers district going on 10 years this school year! During those years I have taught 6th-grade remedial math, social studies, reading and English. I love my career and my students!
I am a Rogers native of 23 years, moving here just before my 7th-grade year from the Dallas area in Texas. I graduated from Rogers High School, then went on to earn my degree in Psychology with a minor in drama from the University of Arkansas. I have found that both of those areas of study are put to use teaching middle-schoolers!
I have plenty of interests outside of teaching to keep me busy, but they always seem to find ways to creep into my teaching and my classroom. I love to create art of any kind. I have an art "studio" in my garage where I like to paint, craft polymer clay earrings, sew, scrapbook... really any kind of art that I can get my hands into.
I also love to cook for friends and bake; I'm kind of famous for my cupcakes at OMS. I've been known to bake for my students, too.
I have also recently been involved in the conception and formation of Oakdale's own "teacher band", BBFTS (I can't tell you what that means, although it is completely appropriate : ) ...) We have performed at OMS assemblies and at the Mathias open house!
Another long-standing passion of mine is performing arts. I was in my first musical when I was 17. Since then, I have performed in over 50 musicals and plays, in both leading and supporting roles, at the University of Arkansas, Ozark Stageworks, Arts Center of the Ozarks, and Rogers Little Theatre. My performance momentum has slowed down the last 5 years when I took on the most important role of my life, "Momma" to beautiful daughter, Maysie.
Maysie began Kindergarten this year at Mathias Elementary! She is bouncy and full of life, light and energy which balances out her strong will and feistiness. I wouldn't change a thing about her!
